UK Direct Debit: Summary of Terms & Conditions

Direct Debit agreement is subject to a 14 day cooling off period, or until the pass is used.
Students may opt-out at any time, however one month’s notice is required to discontinue payments.
GKR Karate’s family discounts are designed to give financial benefit to the primary bill payer of the household for their immediate family/dependants. As such, this does not extend to cousins, aunties, uncles and in most instances grandparents.
Full T&Cs will be sent via email from GKR Karate upon processing your agreement.

UK Direct Debit Guarantee

The Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.
If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit the organisation will notify you (normally 10 working days) in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request the organisation to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society.
If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when the organisation asks you to.
You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify the organisation.

You warrant, declare and acknowledge that the information given by you in entering this agreement is correct and will be relied upon by us in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
To the best of your knowledge and belief you are in good health and not knowingly incapable of engaging in either active or passive exercise and that such exercise would not be detrimental to your health, safety, comfort, well being or physical condition. Further, that you will advise us immediately should your circumstances change.

What happens with my payments over Christmas?

In relation to the direct debit payments over the December/January period, please note that our rates were established based on an annual fee divided by either 52, 26, or 12 equal payments per year. This was preferable to making your regular weekly/fortnightly/monthly payments a little higher and then attempting to suspend and adjust everybody’s accounts over the Christmas period when we are closed. As such, our Christmas break has been factored into your regular payments and will therefore continue as normal over December/January.
If I cant make it to class, will I still be charged?

Yes. However our Direct Debit training fees cover you for unlimited training at any GKR Karate Dojo worldwide. In the event that you are unable to make a class one week, we hope that you can make multiple classes many other weeks to ensure you get the best value out of your membership!
How do I suspend my payments?

Temporary Illness or Injury: This agreement may be frozen in the event of a temporary illness, injury or medical condition which in the written opinion of a doctor or other suitably qualified medical practitioner prohibits exercise for a period of time.
Please note – ANY Freeze will not be effected until the appropriate proof is provided and received (in writing or via email) by GKR Karate.
Please note – A freeze period does not affect the Minimum No. of Direct Debit Payments you are due to make and any payments remaining at the time of the freeze will remain due and recommence on a monthly basis once the freeze period has completed.
How do I add additional family members to my Direct Debit contract?

If you wish to add another family member to Direct Debit, the best thing to do is to email us at membershipuk@gkrkarate.com with your current contract number, and the student(s) names you wish to be added and we can arrange this for you within 5 business days.
How do I remove a family member from my Direct Debit Contract?

If you wish to remove a family member from your Direct Debit contract, the best thing to do is to email us at membershipuk@gkrkarate.com with your current contract number, and the student(s) names you wish to be removed and we will action this for you.
What do I do with my Digital Training Pass?

Your Digital Training Pass is your key to attending GKR Karate classes. Please present this pass for scanning along with your membership card at each class you attend.
I don't have access to a mobile device - what should I do?

Whilst we recommend using the Digital Training Pass on your mobile device as part of its “Wallet” feature, we understand that this isnt always possible – you may not have a device, it might run flat, someone else might be taking your children to training etc.

With this in mind, we are happy to accept printed versions of your Digital Training Pass, and you’re welcome to send the link or a screenshot of the pass to another family member who may be taking your children to class.
How can I cancel my account?

Once you have completed the Minimum No. of Direct Debit Payments we will automatically continue collecting the Direct Debit Payment Amount every month. Your membership will be extended by one month for each payment (“Renewal Period”). You may prevent the Automatic Renewal at any time by giving notice to us at membershipuk@gkrkarate.com (you should give us not less than 30 days notice).

GKR Karate Dojo Kun

Kancho, Shihan Gavin, Shihan Anthony and a number of our most senior instructors developed the GKR Karate Dojo Kun to remind ourselves of the true karate-ka’s ideal code of behaviour. We hope you find it inspiring, and beneficial to your general outlook both in and out of the dojo.

We feel it appropriate to articulate the values and ethics that are expected of anybody who is part of the GKR Karate community. This applies to students and instructors, and refers to conduct both inside and outside the dojo. We hope that the true essence of the kun inspires you to be your best self!

Why GKR Karate?

GKR creates the right environment for our members to train in. Although we promote self defence and fitness, our style also fosters positive values, confidence, discipline, focus and well being. GKR teaches you not only how to punch and kick, it teaches you to be a better person.

We encourage students of all ages, from all walks of life to join our club and be part of the supportive ‘family’ that is GKR Karate.

Self Defence

Synonymous with martial arts, self defence and inner self confidence are one of the key takeaways from regular training. From the age of 5 GKR teaches basic self defence and extraction moves, continuing right through to our senior grades.
Weight Loss

Karate is a great way to lose or maintain a healthy weight, with most classes consisting of aerobic, stretching and toning activities. For those who may not have exercised in some time, GKR provides a supportive environment where students can train at their own pace and physical ability. Our classes are a mixture of men, women and children of all ages.
Focus

Many parents are keen to see their children develop greater focus and discipline through their martial arts training, and GKR’s classes provide the perfect environment. Instructors teach in a respectful and supportive atmosphere through karate inspired games, activities and drills.

Family

GKR promotes a family environment, encouraging kids, parents and relatives to all train in the same class. Staying a few karate grades behind your children, will encourage them to continue a regular training program.
Respect

As a traditional Japanese martial arts, karate promotes respect to our instructors, our club, each other and most importantly ourselves. This is a key part of your learnings as a student of GKR karate.
Friendships

Although karate is considered a solo sport, it is still the foundation for many life long friendships. Classes include games and partner work where children and adults alike take the opportunity to learn about and bond with their fellow class mates.
