Sensei Karl Hughes is the Senior Instructor and Zone Director for the North Midlands regions of the United Kingdom (Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield, Manchester, Preston, Bradford, Leeds, Kingston-Upon-Hull, Middlesbrough and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne). He has been a member of GKR since 2003 and currently holds the rank of 4th Dan Black belt.
Karl began his training in Leicester and became the Regional Manager for Nottingham in 2003, later also taking on the management of the Derbyshire region in 2009. He was appointed the role of Zone Director for the North Midlands UK in 2015.
He currently oversees the ongoing training and support of Senior Instructors/Regional Managers, over 100 Branch Instructors and over 1000 students throughout the North Midlands.
Karl trained in Shotokan Karate for five years and has previous experience in boxing & kick-boxing. He has also trained many students who have gone on to achieve their goals at National and World tournaments.
Karl is based in Nottingham.
