**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – WC10 DATES HAVE CHANGED**
We were advised yesterday that the venue for our 2019 GKR Karate World Cup (the MK Arena) is no longer able to accommodate our event on the 5th, 6th and 7th of July as planned. We had rightfully assumed that our booking was secure but a 25,000+ spectator heavy metal concert has also been booked for the adjacent stadium that weekend. The local council has subsequently deemed this arrangement to be acutely hazardous in terms of security, crowd control, access and egress, parking, traffic flow, and overall public health and safety. Unfortunately, it appeared that the flow and enjoyment of our event would be severely compromised by these factors and it was deemed that our booking should be re-scheduled.
It is with this in mind that we have retained the same venue (MK Arena) and reluctantly agreed to bring the event forward by one week to the 28th, 29th and 30th of June 2019. We were given the choice of cancelling our booking with MK Arena altogether, but the chances of securing a suitable venue with most places closing for Christmas would have been impossible and may have taken a month or two into the New Year before we could confirm anything. Even then, there would have been no guarantee of securing the originally planned weekend.
Although the new dates are still 6 months away, we appreciate nonetheless that it could impact arrangements some people have already made. We hope therefore, that you can make the necessary adjustments to your travel plans without too much difficulty. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this change may have caused, and thank you for your understanding.
