UK – Central Zone Championships 2024 Results

The Central Zone Championships were held at University of Wolverhampton, Walsall Campus on Saturday 12th October 2024.

A message from the Tournament Director – Sensei Andy Hawley:

Our third local tournament of the year was eagerly awaited – who will be crowned the Kata & Kumite Central Zone Champion 2024? After some well-deserved recognition and a presentation by Sensei Ryan for our newest officials, we kicked off the events on all 8 rings. Junior Teams opened on ring 1, followed by the junior individual events. The prestigious Senior Black Belt Opens were up on ring 2 at 10am. In the male division, we saw Andrew Jones and Mike Barrett claim the golds in Kata and Kumite respectively. Females were up next which saw Taylar Killworth take double gold! In the Junior division, the gold was claimed by Oliver Cobbold and Sasha Davies for Kata, alongside Morgan Grew and Poppy Daniel for Kumite. The day continued with the senior and veteran events and concluded with Senior Teams.

I would like to thank all competitors, spectators, and officials for making the event a huge success. I’m sure you will agree – the atmosphere was electric and made for a fantastic, memorable day! From start to finish – the karate standard, camaraderie, skill and etiquette on display was exceptional. Medal or not, getting in the ring and putting your karate to the test is commendable!
