A message from the Tournament Director – Sensei Andy Hawley:
On Saturday 29th March 2025, we held our first Central Zone Tournament in Coventry, and what a brilliant day it was!
The events started at 9am on all 9 rings. Junior Teams were first up, showing fantastic teamwork and skill. The individual events also began where we were treated to some truly inspiring performances from our youngest karate students. In the elite Senior Black Belt Opens, Andrew Jones and Taylar Killworth took the gold in both Kata and Kumite, showing their skill and determination. Next up were the juniors who didn’t disappoint either! Oliver Cobbold and Beau Fuller won gold for Kata and Kumite in the male division, and Ava Neno and Poppy Daniel achieved the same in the female events.
The atmosphere was fantastic all day, with great sportsmanship and lots of cheering from supporters. The senior and veteran competitions continued to impress, and the day finished with thrilling Senior Team events. Congratulations to everyone who competed! Whether you won a medal or not, stepping into the ring and giving your best is something to be proud of.
I want to say a big thank you to our officials and admin teams for making sure the tournament ran smoothly and finished on time.
